There are many of us who come to an important turning point in our businesses when we must either take the leap into the 21st century or labor in obscurity in the small corner we’ve carved out for ourselves, “preaching to the choir” with horse and buggy type delivery systems.

Although in the 1990s I knew enough to gather the snail mail addresses of anyone who emailed an order or an inquiry, and too slowly transitioned to gathering email addresses, these cut and paste options were labor intensive and hit or miss as I had no opt-in boxes on my 4 popular sites. These were my first AHAs in working with Kim—

  • you mean that growing my core audience is the POINT of having a website…
  • and that to grow a core audience we must draw traffic to my websites…
  • and that there’s an easy way to “capture” the email addresses of my core audience that doesn’t involve cutting and pasting…
  • WOW!

I know this all sounds elementary but as a solo entrepreneur who’s always done everything myself, there were gaps in my fundamental understanding of the way things worked! I tended to conjure up my own ways of doing things that were usually labor intensive, and eventually resented!
